The Wolf Trap Animal Rescue is an established not-for-profit 501(c)(3) business that currently operates by remote location to facilitate operations for transport, foster, and adoption events to aid in the rescue of puppies and kittens whom are at risk of euthanasia by shelters in Mississippi and other states of the South. Since May 2015, Wolf Trap Animal Rescue has successfully adopted over 2,800 dogs & puppies, and 300 cats & kittens, for a total of over 3,100 animals rescued from euthanasia. The rescue has an amazing network of volunteers and fosters that are dedicated to help save more lives through this rescue program.
Wolf Trap Animal Rescue’s primary mission is to support a life-saving foster, transport, and adoption program which was developed in order to rescue young animals in danger of being euthanized in Mississippi from overpopulation. The transports help relieve the shelters from overcrowding, thus allowing additional time and resources to be spent on the older, less adoptable residents of the shelter that would otherwise be euthanized. Rescued animals are transported by volunteers of Wolf Trap Animal Rescue, where pets reside in foster homes until they find their forever home through on-site adoption events located at designated PetSmart Charities® and Unleashed by PETCO locations.
What Our Adopters Say
My partner and I are 2x WTAR adopters (one of which was a foster fail) and have nothing but positive things to say about our experiences. Particularly having been a part of the foster process, the amount of time, energy, and care that goes into these animals before they are even adopted is above and beyond. Not to mention you are adopting a pet that is already spayed/neutered, microchipped, and has received initial vaccinations. Dr. Burton and the Jennys were on call while we fostered, readily responding to any questions and concerns we had. The organization also sets up a fantastic community of adopters so people can ask questions and stay in touch with fosters and siblings. We love WTAR and couldn't imagine adopting from anywhere else.
Thank you WTAR for all you do to save lives! We adopted our pup, Chestnut, today and our family is so in love. You all make the adoption process easy, and we will highly recommend you all to our family and friends!
I cannot say enough good things about this organization. They are caring, receptive and highly organized. They made adopting our kitty, Mylo, easy and enjoyable. Mylo was clearly well loved and cared for by his foster and is truly a delight as a new member of our family. Thank you to this great organization. I will easily recommend them to anyone interested in adopting a pet.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Best animal rescue. The folks that run the rescue are caring, compassionate and fun to work with. Puppies and kittens are loved by fosters and ready for forever homes.. highly recommend.
They are an organization dedicated to saving animals. Thanks to them, my daughter was able to get a beautiful puppy who has quickly become her best friend. So grateful for the work they do!
I adopted my now 8.5 month old Shepard/boxer mix back in April. Couldn't have been happier with the rescue group and so thankful to have the puppy I have. I want to get another already! Love how they post constantly on their Instagram and Facebook of updates of all available dogs.
My furbaby became officially mine last week!! I’m so in love and cannot believe at 51, I finally have my own dog! Dreams really do come true! #adoptdontshop #fostertoadopt #savealife #jabsi
We love our pup king and he’s the sweetest brother to his brother Wolfe! King waits for Wolfe everyday by the window as he gets off his schoolbus. Thank you!
